My spring break is just coming to an end, but I know many spring breaks are just starting! Over my spring break, my family and I went on a few short road trips. We went to Cincinnati and Cleveland, which are both almost two-hour drives. Although those drives were relatively short, I've been on a LOT of long road trips. Over the summer, we drove from Ohio to Wyoming, which is a 25-hour drive. So, I know a little bit about what I like to bring with me on road trips. I came up with a list of my ten favorites!
This little backpack is not only adorable, but it actually fits a lot! I can normally fit my iPad, Bluetooth keyboard, chargers, earbuds, journal and more in it! It's also super compact and doesn't take up the whole backseat.
This is my journal, which I always have with me when I don't have anything to do! I use it to take notes on blog tips, write out blog ideas (I actually wrote this one in the car on the way to Cleveland), write to-do lists, and so much more. It's also small and easy to bring in the car.
I've had my gray Champion sweatshirt for almost two years now. I bring it with me on every single trip I go on. It's so comfortable and doesn't make me too hot or not let me get warm if I get cold. I also prefer this sweatshirt over a blanket because it's more compact and easy to put away if I don't want it on anymore.
I bring water EVERYWHERE! It's so important to stay hydrated all the time, but especially on long car rides and if you're going through different altitudes.
5. Travel Bands
These are little wristbands that I wear every time I'm traveling for more than an hour. They help me so much with motion sickness. I definitely prefer them over Dramamine or other medicine because there aren't any terrible side effects.
My car has a USB charger built in, but I prefer to bring my portable charger instead because I've found it charges my phone faster than the car. My friend Haley gave me a really cute one from Target. I couldn't find the exact one, but there are some other really cute ones for sale that are actually relatively cheap!
7. Downloaded Show/Podcast
I think this is pretty self-explanatory, but I love having downloaded shows, music, podcast, videos, or anything similar on my phone during road trips. I almost always lose data connection sometime along the trip, so it's really nice to have pre-downloaded stuff to do. One thing in particular that I've been loving recently is Skillshare. It's a website/app where you can watch videos to learn new things, such as photography, interior design, time-management techniques, and so much more. I downloaded it before our trip to Cincinnati and learned a lot about photography while sitting in the car!
I actually don't love reading, but when I'm on a long car ride it can be a nice thing to have. I recently read Five Feet Apart and I think it was the fastest I've ever read a book! I would recommend finding a book that really interests you before a long trip.
I wear my essential oil necklace whenever I'm sick or anxious. I put peppermint and eucalyptus oils in it when I'm sick, and lavender oil when I'm anxious. My necklace is made out of lava stone and it's really helpful when I'm anxious during car rides and especially when I'm on a plane.
10. Coloring App
I use the Colorfy app when I'm bored... and only when I'm bored. It is super time-consuming but fun when I'm bored and have nothing else to do. It also doesn't take up as much space as a coloring book and markers would since it's an app (not to mention, it’s free).
I hope you try some of these products out or at least got more ideas about what to pack the next time you travel! Links to all of these products can be found in the “Mentioned” tab on my blog or just click on the title of the item on this post!
